Process

Quality & Testing

How materials move from supplier to release, and how certificates of analysis are published. This page describes our process; the lot-specific data lives in the certificates themselves.

Principles

Four commitments, stated plainly.

  • Lot-level identity

Every product has a permanent Red Fern SKU. Every receipt of that product gets an internal lot number that records the supplier batch and the date received. A new batch never reuses a lot number.

  • Serialized vials

Each vial in a lot is assigned an individual ID within a numbered range, recorded in a vial register. Units removed for testing, research, or donation are logged against that register.

  • Independent analysis

Samples from received lots are submitted to independent, third-party laboratories for identity and purity analysis. Red Fern does not test its own material in-house and does not publish results it has not received from the laboratory.

  • Published, not paraphrased

Certificates are published as the document issued by the laboratory, linked from the compound entry and identified by lot number. We do not summarize a certificate into a single number on a product page.

Step by step

From receipt to release

  1. Step 1: Purchase and receipt

Inbound shipments are reconciled against the purchase order and moved to quarantine.

  2. Step 2: Inspection

Label, seal, count and appearance are checked. Discrepancies are recorded and resolved before anything proceeds.

  3. Step 3: Lot assignment

An internal lot number and vial ID range are assigned and recorded with the supplier batch.

  4. Step 4: Sampling for analysis

Vials are drawn from the lot and submitted to a third-party laboratory. The number submitted is recorded against the register.

  5. Step 5: Certificate publication

When the laboratory issues its certificate, it is attached to the lot and published on the relevant compound page.

  6. Step 6: Release

Only inspected, documented inventory is released from quarantine.

Reading the document

How to read a certificate of analysis

A certificate of analysis (COA) is a laboratory's report on a specific sample. It identifies the material and lot tested, the methods used, and the results observed against the laboratory's acceptance criteria. When reviewing one, confirm that the lot number matches the vial in hand, note the issuing laboratory and date, and read the method descriptions alongside the results.

Library

Documentation library

Every document Red Fern holds for the materials it lists, published as issued and separated by what it actually covers.

Red Fern lot certificates

Certificates of analysis commissioned by Red Fern for a specific internal lot (RFB-…), issued by an independent laboratory. Published against the lot number as testing completes.

Manufacturer batch test reports

Third-party laboratory reports commissioned by the manufacturer for its production batch, supplied to Red Fern as source documentation. They describe the manufacturer's batch, not a Red Fern lot. Each carries a public verification key.

Red Fern lot certificates

None published yet

Red Fern is pre-launch. Lot-specific certificates from an independent laboratory are added here, by internal lot number, as testing completes.
